Alexandra Phelan Faculty Director, Policy Programs
Dr. Alexandra L. Phelan is Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Senior Scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security. She/they works on Planetary Health Law: examining the interlinkages between global environmental change, human health, and international law and governance.
Dr. Phelan is an internationally recognized expert in international law and infectious diseases, and has advised international organizations and governments around the world on issues including global health law, human rights and pandemic preparedness and response. They hold a Doctor of Juridical Science from Georgetown University Law Center, a Masters of Law from the Australian National University, and a dual Bachelor of Biomedical Science/Bachelor of Laws from Monash University in Melbourne Australia.
