Erin Broas Communications Specialist
Erin Broas is the Communications Specialist for the Johns Hopkins Institute for Planetary Health, where she plays a key role in developing and executing strategic communications initiatives that advance the Institute’s mission. In this role, Erin is responsible for crafting and disseminating key messages across various digital platforms, creating engaging content, and promoting the expansion of the Planetary Health community within Johns Hopkins University and beyond.
Before joining the Institute, Erin worked with the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs, where she led knowledge-sharing efforts related to COVID-19 emergency response and family planning/reproductive health, as well as managed communications for a USAID-funded community of practice. She also brings valuable experience from her time at the Kyah Rayne Foundation, where she led public health initiatives and educational campaigns focused on food allergies and epinephrine access.
Erin holds an MSPH in Health Education and Health Communication from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, with a certificate in Food Systems, the Environment, and Public Health, and a BS in Public Health and Molecular & Cellular Biology from the University of Arizona. She is passionate about using strategic communications to share knowledge and collaboratively address pressing public health challenges, particularly those at the intersection of environmental and human health.
