Madhumitha Mathivanan Clinical Program Associate

Madhumitha Mathivanan (she/they) is a physician and public health professional with expertise in climate and health equity, program evaluation, and clinical care. As a Clinical Program Associate at the Johns Hopkins Institute for Planetary Health, she plays a key role in developing Planetary Health curricula for the Schools of Medicine and Nursing, advancing sustainability initiatives across Johns Hopkins’ healthcare system, and managing the Planetary Health Clinical Fellows Program.

Their work bridges disciplines to embed environmental considerations into health education and practice. A former ER physician during the COVID-19 pandemic, Madhumitha’s frontline experience sparked a deep interest in making hospital systems more sustainable. They bring a unique blend of clinical insight and systems-thinking to their efforts in environmental justice and health equity.

Madhumitha holds an MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from India. Outside of work, she enjoys watching cult documentaries, thrifting, and dancing.
