Practice Activities

Establishing Principles for Planetary Health Cities

The Johns Hopkins Institute for Planetary Health is leading efforts to develop and promote principles for Planetary Health Cities—a framework for designing urban spaces that prioritize the health of both people and the planet. Through a working group comprising members from JHIPH, the Carey Business School, Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation, School of Medicine, and partner organizations; active participation in the 2025 Urban Land Institute’s Health Leaders Network; engagement with the United Nations Capital Development Fund; and strategic collaborations across the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and other regions, JHIPH is advancing Johns Hopkins University’s leadership in regenerative urban design and fostering global efforts toward healthy, safe, and equitable urban development under the Planetary Health Cities framework.
