Lea Moujaes Fellow of Clinical Programs
Lea is currently a fourth-year resident in Emergency Medicine at Johns Hopkins with a deeply vested interest in planetary health. Her journey in medicine began with a fascination for emergency care, driven by a desire to make an immediate impact in critical situations. Her interest in planetary health emerged from a recognition of the profound interconnection between environmental factors and public health outcomes.
During her third year in residency, Lea’s leadership qualities allowed her to serve as chief resident, which in turn, gave her a platform to emphasize the importance of holistic patient care that considers environmental impacts. This led to plans to collaborate with hospital administration and educational bodies to implement eco-friendly practices and spearhead educational opportunities on planetary health for residents and medical staff.
Looking forward, Lea aims to continue bridging the gap between emergency medicine and planetary health, advocating for policies that prioritize environmental sustainability within healthcare systems. Her ultimate goal is to inspire future generations of healthcare professionals to integrate environmental stewardship into clinical practice, ensuring a healthier future for both patients and the planet.
